Harlequins full back Mike Brown will hope head coach Stuart Lancaster does not have a short memory when it comes to picking his side to face the Springboks on Saturday.

The 27-year-old came off the bench in the 20-14 defeat against Australia at Twickenham at the weekend to make his second appearance of the autumn international series.

Brown impressed for England against South Africa in the 22-17 first Test defeat in June before breaking his thumb in the closing minutes.

The injury ruled him out of the rest of the summer tour, but he has bounced back to score four tries for Quins so far this term and retain his place in the England 32-man elite player squad.

And Brown, who earned his place on the trip to the southern hemisphere on the back of Quins' Premiership title winning campaign, is after more.

"I've played them enough times and it doesn't get any easier. They have a real system of kick and chase and that is what being a full back is all about," he said.

"I did well in that first Test in the summer and hopefully the coaches remember that.

"I like the physical side of the game, but I just want to get the chance to run out and start at Twickenham full stop - because I haven't done that yet.

"I'm absolutely itching to get on the pitch like every player who is on the bench or not involved in the matchday squad,

"Alex Goode has played well this season and I've been playing well for the last couple of years and that is what I need to keep doing.

"I need to keep training and playing well when I'm with Quins and when I'm with England.

"I feel like I've made an impact when I've come on in the last couple of games and I just need to keep doing that."
