August 1: District Sunrise Ceremony
At 8am on August 1, 1907, scouting's founder Robert Baden-Powell blew his kudu horn on Brownsea Island in Dorset to open the world's first scout camp.
From humble beginnings, scouting has spread around the world and now exists in 216 countries and territories.
To celebrate those humble beginnings in Dorset, scouts across the country are holding a sunrise ceremony on August 1.
The ceremony in Kingston will be held at Kingston University in Penrhyn Road, Kingston, at 7.45am, followed by breakfast at the university.
July 27 to August 8: World Jamboree in Chelmsford, Essex
The first scouting jamboree was held in Olympia, London, in 1920. 87 years later, 40,000 scouts will descend on Chelmsford in Essex for the international centenary jamboree.
The 12-day extravaganza will include tours around central London, local community projects and an adventure day at Gilwell Park.
Two leaders and 29 lucky scouts from Kingston will attend the jamboree.
4:10pm Tuesday 31st July 2007
