Residents, team members and family from Sunrise of Virginia Water have raised £400 for Christchurch Church, during a charity walk as part of the community’s ‘Fun Day’.

20 people took part in the walk, which stretched 7.5 miles from Sunrise of Virginia Water and through Virginia Park.

On a beautiful, warm summer’s day, the entire community came together to cheer on those walking. Residents waved off the walkers from Sunrise of Virginia Water, while some took a mini bus to provide further support from the park, accompanied by a picnic and tea and coffee.

After the event, residents enjoyed a delicious High Tea that included sandwiches and cakes.

Sunrise of Virginia Water picked Christchurch Church as its charity of choice due to the close work they have previously done together, and the ties with local neighbours that the church fosters.

The charity walk is part of a continuous programme of fun and engaging events put on by Sunrise of Virginia Water, as part of its mission to ensure residents can live active, fulfilling lives.

The community provides dedicated, personalised care focused on individual needs, including dementia care, assisted living and respite care.

Tracy Campbell, Director of Community Relations at Sunrise of Virginia Water, said: “Our charity walk was a great way for our community to come together and enjoy a day of exercise in aid of a brilliant cause.
“We were delighted to raise such a large amount of money for Christchurch Church, which will provide invaluable support to the church’s vital work in the local area.
“On top of this, we were really pleased to see everyone tuck into the delicious sandwiches and cakes that were provided, on what was a lovely summer’s day.”
