Residents at a care home in Purley welcomed local people for a summer garden party to celebrate Care Home Open Day.

Amberley Lodge on Downlands Road was one of thousands of care homes across the UK to take part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.

To celebrate the open day, Amberley Lodge organised a summer garden party where residents and visitors took part in an old fashioned sing-along with pupils from St Nicholas School, and were treated to live musical entertainment from Johnathon Stevens. Everyone also enjoyed tasty treats inspired by cultures from around the globe.

Krystyna Bosko, home manager at Amberley Lodge, said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day is a particular highlight each year as it is a brilliant opportunity to showcase our home and celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike.

“This year’s event was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building our links within the local community. We hope that all our visitors enjoyed themselves as much as we did and look forward to welcoming them back to the home for events in the future.”

Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Amberley Lodge were also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s latest guide, A Helping Hand, which can also be downloaded from careuk.com/helpinghand.
