The sixth Air Aid Ball, sponsored by Hudgell Solicitors, is due to take place on Saturday 24th June at Redhill Aerodrome. The purpose of the event is to raise funds for the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, a life-saving charity that operates around the clock, 365 days a year.

The Air Aid Ball started in 2007 when a group of local people, in conjunction with Redhill Aerodrome, set up a committee to raise awareness and much needed funding for the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance. Since then, this biennial event has built a reputation and attracted widespread support among local businesses and residents, raising over £300,000. As per previous years, the 2017 event has sold out, reflecting the importance the local community attaches to this critical service that receives no government funding.

The Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance provides a helicopter emergency medical service, responding to patients who have suffered trauma or serious medical emergencies. It responds to an average of 8-10 emergencies every day or night across the counties of Kent, Surrey & Sussex, arriving at the scene within 20 minutes of being called. Since its inception it has attended 25,000 incidents, but each callout costs around £2,500 and it relies almost entirely on donations and fundraising, hence the committee’s determination to help.

Neil Hudgell, Managing Director of Hudgell Solicitors, said: “We are very proud to be sponsoring such a worthwhile fundraising event. The Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance shares our values in the sense that, just as we see the person and not just the claim, they see the person before the patient. They go beyond the call of duty in reaching every corner of the region, in all weather conditions, administering first class medical care to people who otherwise would never be reunited with their families. It is a fantastic service run by an amazing, dedicated team.”
