A 37-year-old novice runner and parenting blogger from Oxted in Surrey, who was inspired to run the Vitality London 10,000 to help vulnerable children and young people, proudly crossed the finish line on Bank Holiday Monday to raise hundreds of pounds for The Children’s Society.

Nicole Edmondson completed her first ever 10km challenge run in an impressive 1 hour and 16mins on Monday 29 May to support the charity’s work with the most vulnerable children across the country who experience issues such as child sexual exploitation, poverty and neglect.

Nicole runs the parenting blog themumreviews.co.uk  where she reviews days out, holidays, restaurants, food products, toys and games for the family. She has also blogged about her training journey to run the London 10k for The Children’s Society and used it to spread awareness of the charity’s work.

She has two young sons and is passionate about helping young people. She chose to take on this personal challenge for The Children’s Society because she has children of her own and wanted to help other’s that were less fortunate.  So far, Nicole has raised £280 towards the charity’s work with vulnerable young people.

Reflecting on her personal challenge and determination to make a difference, Nicole said: “Crossing the finish line of this year’s Vitality London 10,000 is a big personal achievement and I’m so proud to have supported such a worthy cause.

“I have been running sporadically for a bit of light exercise for the last couple of years, but I never thought I would run in a proper running event or be able to run a long distance without resting!”

“It feels amazing to have completed the course as I know the money raised will go towards changing the lives of disadvantaged children and young people.”

The Children’s Society’s Challenge Event Coordinator, Reena Ruda says: “Running the Vitality London 10,000 is a fantastic achievement and Nicole’s inspiring efforts will help to make a real difference to young people’s lives.   Nicole’s fundraising, along with all of our Vitality London 10k runners, will support our vital work with children who often have nowhere left to turn.’
