Hinchley Wood Primary School is very pleased to open the second edition of Sports Week on Monday 22nd May. For four consecutive days, each year group will take part in a sport activity, finishing off their week by Sports Day.

Activities include: gymnastics, archery and orienteering, rugby, athletics, lacrosse, football, cricket, karate, athletics, squash, handball, dodgeball, judo, hockey, golf and climbing.

We’re also delighted to welcome some top sportspeople to the school during the week with the aim of encouraging the children to enjoy sport and try new activities.

On Monday, Geoff Rellis, ex Irish International Gymnast and his team are teaching gymnastics to Year 1 while English and British Champion, Paul Abel will offer the opportunity for Year 3 to discover Karate on Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday, England squash player and world number 9, Alison Waters will join in on the Year 5 & Year 6 morning squash sessions, showing off some of her skills and answering questions from the children.

Sports day on Friday should be a memorable affair. As well as the races and activities, Chelsea Football Club are kindly sending along their Foundation coaches to put on sessions for boys and girls on the MUGA, watched by parents and pupils who will be eating their lunch outside the fencing. This will take place between 12.30pm and 1.05pm.

Then in the sports hall from 1.30pm, the Year 5 and 6 pupils will be treated to an inspirational question and answer session ran by sport presenter Jacqui Oatley MBE with some top sports stars. The former Fulham player and manager, Kit Symons will be joined by a top Chelsea Ladies player and other top sport professionals.

We very much hope the children will enjoy the week and will feel suitably inspired by the end of it.
