A Kingston College student has scooped a rare City & Guilds Medal for Excellence Award in recognition of her exceptional work and outstanding performance.

Five other Kingston College Legal Secretarial students were also recognised by City & Guilds and received Commendations. The Legal Secretarial courses at Kingston College have an exceptional track record with 10 students winning the award over the last 11 years.

Medal for Excellence winner, Tracey Jones, completed her Level 3 Diploma for Legal Secretaries studies with us last year. During the course Tracey completed work experience at Freshfields and towards the end of her course was invited to interview at 3 different law firms, and is now working for prestigious Kingston law firm, Carter Bells.

A thrilled Tracey commented: “I now feel that I have the skills and confidence to build a worthwhile career to support myself and my son. I am now looking forward to the Law and Practice course to continue on my journey.”

Jenny Hands, Tracey’s tutor and Team Leader - FE Business, added: "It is wonderful to see how Tracey has developed, as hoped, and achieved a successful career start, using her CILEx qualifications to the full in the space of only a year – we wish her every continued success and good health.”

City & Guild Commendations went to:
Faiza Batth, Learner with the best overall attitude – Level 3 Diploma for Legal Secretaries
Iola Collins, Learner who has made the biggest improvement – Level 2 Diploma for Legal Secretaries
Elisa St Michael, Learner who has demonstrated consistency of effort – Level 3 Diploma for Legal Secretaries
Alina Badrudin, Learner who has gone above and beyond – Level 2 Diploma for Legal Secretaries

City & Guilds, the UK’s leading awarding body for work-related qualifications, has awarded the coveted medals every year since 1879. The Medals for Excellence programme rewards talented people who have displayed exceptional standards as students or educational professionals, and whose portfolio and achievements put them a cut above the rest.

Tracey and Jenny will be invited to attend the Lion Awards ceremony, dubbed the ‘Education Oscars’, at a red-carpet ceremony in London later this year, which is a culmination of the annual Medals for Excellence competition, where all medallists are invited to celebrate their exceptional achievements.

Each medallist will automatically be shortlisted for the Lion Awards including the People’s Choice Award, voted for by the public. The C&G dedicated micro-site will showcase each winner to help them gain support and votes for this award.
