Old Emanuel Rugby Club finished off the season in style at home on Saturday winning 68-5 vs Purley John Fisher, with 10 tries to celebrate being Champions in front of a large crowd.

Old Emanuel Rugby Club based at Shannon Corner in New Malden won Surrey League 1 in style last Saturday by beating the 2nd place team on their own ground 52-7 scoring 8 tries.
It was a close game in the first half 12-7, with Emanuel giving away too many penalties to take advantage of their territorial superiority. The confidence and fitness in the 2nd half saw an excellent display of all around running rugby to please a large travelling crowd. Wild celebrations after the match and back at their own clubhouse went well into the night.

It had been an emotional week at the club with the funeral of popular player Shawnton De Four on Friday attended by over 400 people. He died on the pitch just four weeks ago. He leaves a widow and 14 month old twins, The rugby community has shown wonderful support.

The 13th Annual GRM7s will take place on Easter Saturday 15 April, ALL DAY, at Blagdons in New Malden KT3 4PU where three of last year’s National RFU 7s Semi finalists will be taking part in the Open competition. There will also be Social and Women’s competitions with some places still available. BBQ, Bar and stalls. Public are welcome, with a donation for parking.
