A care home in Godalming is inviting the local community to its free event for families caring for a loved one living with dementia.

On Thursday 9th March from 2pm-4pm, the Care UK team at Jubilee House will open the doors to the care home on Pound Lane for its Understanding Dementia event.

Dementia specialist, Debra Fox, will be on hand to help people understand what it might be like to live with dementia. There will also be support and practical advice on what dementia is and how memories are lost, as well as useful tips on how to overcome communication barriers – with the aim of helping people discover positive approaches to caring for loved ones living with dementia.

After the event there will be a Q&A session, and those who attend will also have the chance to meet the team at Jubilee House, as well as take a closer look at the care home.

Totka Zhelyazkova, home manager at Jubilee House, said: “Here at Jubilee House we strongly believe professional knowledge, insight and shared experiences can make a real difference to the everyday lives of those caring for loved ones living with dementia.

“Previous events have proven to be incredibly popular, so we are looking forward to welcoming local people to Jubilee House for what promises to be another interesting and inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.”

Jubilee House is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care.
