The Kingston upon Thames Charitable trust has made its final donation of £6,009.86 to Kingston Churches Action on Homelessness.
The trust, founded by former Mayor Ian McDonald, was set up in 2009 to support targeted projects helping in homelessness during a recession year.
Commenting Mr McDonald said, "I would like to thank all those who have supported the project. I am particularly proud of the fact that we supported a range of activities to help those in our borough and surrounding area that were most disadvantaged. Help has over the years included: Showers for the homeless, Rent Deposit Guarantee schemes and training of front line workers for those working with people on the street to name just a few. All the money donated without exception was spent on front line projects, while any administration costs were specifically sponsored by the trustees themselves."
Looking to the future he added, "With the formation of Love Kingston there is no longer a need for two bodies in the borough doing the same work. While anyone wishing to sponsor a targeted homeless Charity in London is able to do this directly."
