Orion is an aspiring Young Enterprise company based at Southborough High School in Surbiton. They are selling a product to light up your drinks with their innovative Ice3. The Ice3 is a reusable ice cube that lights up with an LED light, making it fun and practical; stopping you having to regularly refill your freezer or getting slushy, diluted drinks.

They have already made £1500 worth of sales at just £9.99 for 4. Having recently tasted a wealth of success come from our school with ACE, who came second in the European competition in 2014, we aspire to go one further and go and win the competition in Brussels this July.

“We have worked really hard to get to this point and are excited to see everything coming together.” Managing Director, Haris Khan said, “I can’t wait for the competition to begin. For those who believe, there is always a place at the top.”

During the process, they face many competitions, both locally and regionally, before facing national and international competitions. Throughout the process, we compete with roughly 6,000 schools and 19,000 people from across Europe.

Orion consists of 24 hardworking members, who give up their Wednesday evenings at school until 7pm and often weekends to organise the business. Everyone in the team is a part of one of 6 departments with a clear hierarchy, using their expertise to complete the wide range of tasks needed to make the company run effectively.

We have built a strong team connection from a number of social activities run by our HR department including a game at Goals against teachers from school and a couple of meals out. This has built a positive atmosphere within the team.

Orion hopes to provide a solution to the rapid melting of ice cubes in your drinks and the dilution caused by this. Visit www.orionye.com for more information.
