The 2016 Sutton Music Festival came to a close on 27 November at Overton Grange School with a Gala Concert of prize winners.

Sixty trophies and prizes were presented by the Festival President and Sutton Mayor Councillor Richard Clifton.

This was the 83nd Festival, held every year (except the war years) since 1928. It takes place annually over three weekends throughout November, and covers choral singing and vocal, instrumental and piano playing, speech and drama.

It offers participants the chance to perform before an audience and get expert feedback from professional adjudicators. Mayor Councillor Clifton said before presenting the prizes: ‘I have really enjoyed this concert. It shows how much musical talent there is in the Borough. I want to thank all those who have contributed to this year’s Festival’.

The next Music Festival event is the Celebrity Masterclass for pianists selected from the 2016 Festival, to be given by Danny Driver on Sunday 5 March 2017, at 2.30pm.
