Students from Southborough High School pulled out all the stops to make this year’s OAP Christmas party go with a swing.
The annual event is held as a way of saying a big ‘thank you’ to elderly residents living within the local community and it’s something that both staff and students look forward to each year.
Many of these men and women have had their own children, grandchildren, extended family and friends attend the school at some point during their lives.
Southborough students served a delicious afternoon tea of sandwiches, sausage rolls, cheese scones, cupcakes, mince pies and shortbread - all made from scratch by the students.
Other students mingled with guests throughout the afternoon and the bingo prizes and raffle draws ensured that they all went home laden with Christmas gifts and goodie bags crammed with left over cakes and cookies.
Headteacher Mr Smith commented: “We love hosting this special event each year. Students of all age groups mingle with our guests and it’s wonderful to see both young and old get on so well and have fun chatting, eating, singing and even playing bingo together!”
