The Cobham house where a woman’s decomposed body was found in a wheelie bin just a month ago has seen a flurry of potential buyers visit, according to neighbours.
The three bedroom house in Hamilton Avenue is on sale for £235,000 - the same price as before the body of South African Melanie Wallner was found on June 6.
Her husband Peter, who had been renting the house which is on the council estate in Cobham, has been charged with murdering her and preventing her lawful burial. He will appear at the Old Bailey on September 16.
His girlfriend Lilia Fenech was arrested on her return from Malta but released without charge on bail, after being questioned by Surrey Police.
Forensics teams have scoured the home and garden for clues but had left it alarmed before finally handing it back to the estate agent to sell on behalf of its owners.
A neighbour on the estate said: “We have seen quite a few people at the weekend on Friday and Saturday. It is quite surprising because of what’s happened.
“The landlords did it all up and the hedges have been cut back.
"A professional cleaner came and cleaned up the house. Personally I wouldn’t buy it. I wondered whether the price has gone down.”
Estate agent Gascoigne Billinghurst, in High Street, Cobham, declined to comment.
