Macmillan volunteers have won an award in recognition of the “outstanding work” they do at Kingston Hospital.

The volunteers, who work in the Sir William Rous Unit, won the Royal Borough of Kingston Mayor’s Community Award, for going “above and beyond their duties”.

The group is made up of six complementary therapists and three volunteers who work in the Information and Support Centre.

Patients are “always greeted with a smile”, are treated with respect and leave the Macmillan Information and Support Centre feeling fully informed and reassured.

Archana Sood, Macmillan Information and Support manager said: “The success of the Macmillan Information and Support service is a result of this amazing team of volunteers and I am very proud and honoured that they have received this accolade.

“Our service simply cannot run without the time, dedication, care, kindness, generosity and above all professionalism of my team of volunteers.”

The volunteers include Manisha Arora, Gabrielle Bain, Juliet Barker, Deidre Bradley, Albert Dutoit, Helen Green, Linda Haines, Ranjan Patel and Eliza Wade.
