Surbiton is to host its annual Christmas Market this Saturday (December 16).

Mulled wine, crêpes and even a hog roast are just some of the “fabulous fayre” that will be on offer at the Maple Road market.

Events at the market, which runs from 9am to 1 pm, include carols from the Surbiton YMCA Choir and a pop-up choir with song sheets for all to take part.

For children, there will be biscuit decorating at Maple Road restaurant No 97 and a visit from Santa with presents.

There will be 26 stalls of seasonal specialities, drinks and gifts.

Maple Women’s Institute will join regular stallholders, selling home-made jams and preserves.

Maple Road’s cafés, bars and restaurants will be open for warming drinks, breakfast, brunch and lunch.

There will also be a last chance to enter the prize draw to win four tickets for the Rose Theatre’s new festive show, Alice in Winterland, as well as a meal at Pizza Express.

The winning entry will be drawn at noon.

The Mayor of Kingston, Councillor Julie Pickering, will be joining shoppers for the festivities from 9.15am.

She will visit a new social enterprise crepe stall, Flipping Amazing, which provides work experience to young people in the borough of all backgrounds and abilities.

This year, the market’s Christmas charity is children’s hospice Shooting Star Chase and all proceeds from fundraising at the market will be donated to the local charity, including 50p on each serving of hog roast, thanks to The Giggly Pig.
