A motorcycle and a pedestrian have been involved in a serious crash in Kingston.

Multiple roads were closed following the crash in Eden Street at around 1pm.

Simon Whitfield, who witnessed the commotion, said: “Two people are on the ground and the whole of Kingston is gridlocked.”

He added that the “whole of Kingston is closed”.

A spokeswoman for the Met Police said: “We were called to Eden Street at about 1pm to reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a pedestrian.”

She added: “London Ambulance is at the scene.”

Both rider and pedestrian are said to be “conscious and breathing at the scene”.

Jon Tolley, a Kingston Councillor and manger at Banquet record store, said: "I saw the aftermath with the police and ambulances all around.

“It’s a central location so emergency services could get there quickly.

“I don’t think there were any life-threatening conditions but obviously they needed to get them to a hospital quickly.

“There was a crash last week too, we have to hope it’s a coincidence and not an ongoing trend.”

A staff member at Feather and Black in Eden Street said they didn’t see the accident but “heard the crash”.

She said: “We went out a saw them in the road.

“Hopefully they’ll be ok.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 1pm to Eden Street, Kingston to reports of a road traffic collision.

“We sent two ambulance crews, two single responders and a cycle responder to the scene.

“We checked two people over at the scene and took them to hospital.”

As of 1.55pm, Eden Street has re-opened.
