A legal challenge against Kingston Council over Lidl’s new UK headquarters in Tolworth has been dropped.
Meyer Homes was seeking a judicial review into plans for the site in Jubilee Way, claiming they did not resolve traffic issues and all possible sites had not been explored.
A spokesperson for the council said: “While the council considers that the challenge would not have been successful, the decision to withdraw it is welcomed and allows for this significant development for Tolworth, and the Royal Borough as a whole, to proceed.”
The developer had an application refused to build 705 homes in the nearby former government offices site in July 2016.
Revised plans for 950 homes were submitted in December, and the proposals will be considered by the council’s Development Control Committee.
