A disabled cricketer from Chessington who helped England conquer Australia and South Africa in the INAS Learning Disability Tri-season is encouraging youngsters to follow in his footsteps.

Tayler Young, 22, who has been diagnosed as dyslexic is ready to inspire the next generation of disabled cricketers following his latest success in the international competition.

Joining the unbeaten England squad for his third Tri-Series in the 40-over and T20 matches Young believes his valuable international experience will hold him in good stead throughout next season – when he will help newly-promoted Chessington in the challenge they face in their new league.

The cricketer said: “I’d like to inspire the younger sections and colts’ sections to follow their dreams and hopefully they can be successful in the sport.ng, who was already back in the swing of things at Chessington.

“It was a boyhood dream playing on home soil for your country. That’s what everyone wants to do and doing it for a third time was fantastic.

“I’m already looking ahead to the next Tri-Series in Australia in 2019.”

The Tri-Series, supported by NatWest, took place at club grounds across Cheshire in July and England were champions in both formats, as well as winning the overall Tri-Series for a third time – they were also victorious in 2011 and 2015.

“In one of the matches, they posted 170-odd, we were seven down and I came on and tried to calm us down a bit. I managed to knock off a few runs and it paid off,” Young added.

The England star was accompanied by fellow Surrey teammates Lee Stenning, Jonny Gale, Dany Levy and Matt Brown at the tournament.

“We were under pressure because it was a home series and we wanted to do well.

“I think we’ve got the experience within the squad at Chessington to do well in the new league. We’ve had a taste of being there before but we didn’t do too well.
