Detectives are renewing an appeal for information about the horrendous murder of West Molesey antiques dealer Robyn Mercer ahead of the one-year anniversary of her body being found.

The 50-year-old mother-of-two was found dead outside her home in Abbey Walk in Walton Road on the morning of March 14, 2016.

She had been battered to death with an axe or machete, according to a Crimewatch appeal last year.

Over the last 12 months, Surrey Police officers and staff, including forensic experts, search teams, dog units, family liaison officers and neighbourhood specialist officers, have pored over evidence in a bid to bring those responsible for the brutal murder to justice.

Detectives have followed up on nearly 1,000 taskings and hundreds of lines of enquiry, neighbourhood specialist officers have made 6,400 house-to-house calls with 13,000 questionnaires returned and viewed more than 1500 hours of CCTV footage.

A specialist independent search team was also brought in to conduct an underwater search of a lake in October.

Surrey Police relaunched an appeal in September on the BBC’s Crimewatch show, on which DCI Paul Rymarz told viewers: “This was a horrendous crime which has devastated Robyn’s family and friends.

“Our work to try to identify and bring to justice those who committed this brutal attack continues.”

From July: Police appeal for dog walker to come forward after 'brutal' murder of West Molesey mum

As a result of the appeal, viewers offered information to enable detectives to identify a dog walker who had been seen on CCTV by the Crimewatch audience.

From March: Former partner in court accused of forging will of murdered West Molesey woman Robyn Mercer

Ms Mercer’s ex-partner Robert Webb, 53, will appear in Kingston Crown Court on March 28 charged with falsifying her will.

From December: Sixth arrest made in connection with murder of Robyn Mercer in West Molesey

Six people have been arrested in connection with Ms Mercer’s murder, but no one has been charged.
