Paragon Community Housing has left an elderly man with a hole in his door for nearly three months.

Police knocked down William Walker’s door in October 2016 when he collapsed in his home.

Mr Walker, 83, had just been released from Kingston Hospital where he was being treated for pneumonia.

To help William, police came to Sheppard Close in Kingston and kicked the door in, which left a large hole.

Mr Walker, a former driver, received a letter today (January 9) informing him that the door would be replaced next week.

In the three months prior to this, Mr Walker had contacted Paragon three times to get the door replaced to no avail.

William is worried about the upcoming cold weather and said his flat is "very draughty".

He said: "It’s letting in a big draft.

"One side of the door is completely missing."

A spokesperson for Paragon Community Housing said: "Following the damage caused to Mr Walker’s property, we quickly secured it with new locks until a replacement door could be fitted.

"A new fire door was ordered specifically for this property and it has taken some time to manufacture.

"The door will be ready for fitting next week beginning January 16."
