The Metropolitan Police have received 106 separate allegations relating to non-recent sexual abuse in 32 different clubs and teams across London.

Four of the teams are in the Premiership, with two Championship clubs also implicated.

Three clubs that are in Leagues One and Two are also being investigated, as well as 21 other non-league, non-professional or amateur teams.

Detective Chief Superintendent Ivan Balhatchet of the sexual offence, exploitation and child abuse command said: "The Met take all allegations seriously, and specialist officers will work through the information passed to them.

"The number of referrals, pieces of information and allegations will change. Officers will continue to work through the information that has been reported."

The Metropolitan police have said they will not discuss the names of the clubs involved or the number of allegations against any individual club.

Anyone who has been the victim of sexual assault should contact their local police force on 101, or call the NSPCC helpline on 0800 023 2642.
