A distressed woman returned home to find four brazen burglars in her house last week.

The four suspects smashed a rear bedroom window before breaking into the house in French Gardens, Cobham sometime between 11.40am and 12.40pm on Monday, September 26.

But they were disturbed by the elderly couple returning home, after the woman walked in through the front door and saw the burglars inside.

Startled, the four suspects fled empty-handed and made their getaway in a waiting dark blue hatchback vehicle, driving off onto Hogs Hill Lane at about 12.40pm.

The suspects are all white and in their early to mid-20s. One is described as 5ft 10, of a slim build, clean-shaven, with short, unstyled light brown hair, and wearing a grey lightweight jacket and carrying a grey mobile phone. The other suspects are described as shorter and of a similar build but with darker hair. They were all wearing casual clothing, with one wearing a navy blue lightweight fleece.

A second burglary happened on the same day sometime between 12.45pm and 1pm in Pennyfield, Cobham, just under a mile and a half drive away, with the offenders matching the descriptions given above.

Surrey Police are investigating whether the two burglaries might be linked.

PC Nathan Brown said: “Although thankfully the victims were not injured, they were left extremely distressed after returning home and finding four burglars going through their belongings.”
