Yesterday was the hottest day in England this year, and despite a scattering of showers across south London and north Surrey today could be just as warm.
The Met Office predicts a dry, cloudy start for London and the south east of England, although brighter spells should develop later.
However, forecasters say the mercury could rise as high as 18 degrees Celsius in London later today – temperatures reached 18.6 degrees yesterday – and 16 degrees in north Surrey.
Tonight is set to see occasionally heavy rain moving up from the south, but this should clear during the early hours.
