Parents meet Christian group about proposed Park Community School in Motspur Park
The man behind a bid for a new free school on the edge of Motspur Park and Raynes Park kept tight-lipped about where the school might would be when he met parents last week.
Park Community School, to be run by Chapel St, said 70 interested parents of primary school aged children attended the meet and greet session at Holy Cross School in New Malden on Thursday, October 10.
They were able to meet with chief executive Dr Russell Rook who spoke about the vision for the non selective school with a Christian ethos due to open by September 2014.
Kingston Council has said the former BBC sports ground in Motspur Park is the preferred site for the school, but Chapel St are still not confirming potential sites.
The primary school will serve children from both Kingston upon Thames and Merton and hopes to have more than 400 school places within seven years.
A spokeswoman from Chapel St said: “Parents were most interested in how they could become involved in the school and what difference it can make for their children.”
Parents can apply for a place for their child at parkcommunityschool.com
Another meeting to update parents has been scheduled for December 2.
