Chessington World of Adventures will be closed this weekend due to overrunning infrastructure work.

It had planned to give passholders a sneak preview of the resort before it opens to the public on Wednesday.

But bad weather has forced delays to the work, the park told customers.

The opening date for its new Zufari attraction, a safari-style tour taking in animals like rhinos and giraffes, has been pushed back until Wednesday, March 27.

A spokeswoman for the park said the animals needed more time to settle in to their new surroundings, after recent cold weather.

Passholders who planned to renew their tickets this weekend will have to wait until opening day, but can take advantage of a discounted rate until March 27.
