Revised South West Trains timetable today and tomorrow

Revised South West Trains timetable today and tomorrow Revised South West Trains timetable today and tomorrow

South West Trains is advising passengers that a revised train service is planned for tomorrow as a result of the continued forecast for heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures.

Snow has already fallen on large parts of the South West Trains network, and forecasters are predicting worsening conditions throughout the remainder of the day.

Services for today are currently operating in line with the special timetable in place. Plans have now been announced to continue the revised timetable into tomorrow with some further changes on certain routes.

Jake Kelly, Customer Service Director for the South West Trains-Network Rail Alliance, said: “The snowy weather is causing disruption to road and rail transport in many parts of the country. We have already seen snow fall on large parts of our network, however the special timetable we have in place is running well and means that trains have more time to cope with the poor weather conditions.

“With forecasters predicting heavy snowfall throughout the rest of the day and freezing temperatures over the weekend, we’ve taken the sensible decision to continue running our revised timetable. The revised timetable helps us to ensure we can make the best use of our resources to deliver the most robust service for passengers.

“The timetable we can provide on Saturday 19 January will be slightly different to the service we’ve been able to offer today and services are expected to be busier than normal. We’d therefore advise passengers to check the timetable before they travel and ensure they allow enough time to travel to and from the station.

“Our staff are working incredibly hard to keep as many trains running as possible as well as keeping depots and stations clear and safe, however we understand the impact this is having on our passengers and would like to thank them for their patience during these difficult conditions.”

In the event that the weather worsens throughout today or on Saturday 19 January, there may be a further reduction in service on the above lines. Alternatively, more services may be provided if circumstances permit.

Revised timetables will be in operation for the following routes and services:

  • London Waterloo to Bournemouth and Weymouth
  • London Waterloo to Alton and Basingstoke (stopping service)
  • Fast trains London Waterloo to Woking, Guildford and Basingstoke
  • London Waterloo to Salisbury, Yeovil and Exeter
  • Southampton to Salisbury and Portsmouth
  • London Waterloo to Haslemere and Portsmouth
  • London Waterloo to Epsom and Dorking
  • Stopping services to Woking, Guildford and Kingston via Wimbledon
  • London Waterloo to Reading, Windsor and Kingston via Richmond

The following routes will have no service:

  • Ascot to Ash Vale
  • Salisbury to Bristol (please note, First Great Western services are planned to run between Salisbury and Bristol and South West Trains tickets are valid on these services)
  • Virginia Water to Weybridge
  • Aldershot to Guildford
  • Chessington branch
  • Hampton Court branch
  • Shepperton branch

Its unacceptable that so many branch lines are closed every time there is a cold snap. This sort of thing causes so much damage to the economy, as it hold back growth, and dents economic confidence at a wider level.

If SWT cant cope with even light snowfall their franchise needs to be terminated.

What do we pay SWT for? Did they really expect that people would just stay at home today rather than go to work?

They've always been a second rate company and this is another occasion when they have proved it.

It's time they went.

Listening to the seemingly interminable and largely banal announcements presently being regularly made on SWT stations public address systems by which we're all advised to 'take extra care' during the icy weather when things might get 'slippery' it seems to me that the lunatics have finally taken charge of the asylum.

So you live at twickenham and teddington
did you not have a service today?
im afraid south west trains are damned if the do and damned if they dont.
A few years ago they tried to run a full service which failed because trains could not gain adhesion ,same as cars, which led to the trains running late and crews going out of hours no different from lorry drivers or airline pilots, this led to more trains being cancelled and the timetable getting gradually worse and worse
,

They like other train companys have put in a snow timetable this means yes fewer trains,, but a more reliable service as they could guarantee the trains they advertise they ran so people could get to work and home again

I agree the branch lines ie shepperton and chessington being closed is unacceptable and people living on these branches have a right to complain but im sure that these complaint will be taken on board and the snow timetable adjusted accordingly

If your going to complain about South West Trains then you need to complain about all train companies because they are all doing the same You need to come with a more informed argument.

The fact that so many branch lines are closes effects every household in the UK. Due to the enormous economic cost of having hundreds of thousands of workers stranded at home.

Even a small percentage drop in productivity could push the country back into recession which will then cause investment to be slashed etc.

Scrimping on basics at SWT is costing the UK economy hundreds of millions of poundd

Some of us can remember Southern Railways, then British Rail. I can assure all you youngsters that service in those days was much worse, so count your blessings!

South West Trains are a joke. How come Southern can operate a normal service. The franchise needs to be taken away from SWT.

ahh how little do you know
southern are not running a normal service they have changed it so that they do not couple and uncouple trains so that there formation stay together this is to ensure that two seperate trains with two seperate power sources can get through any difficultys that may arise do to the snow this leads to less trains as when they split trains two services are made out of them

Chessington branch wasn't closed!? It was well and truly open through all of this weather.

People need to get facts straight.

You should see that SWT are no worse than any other TOC.

Just like London Buses people moan about them- go to other parts of the country and then see how you feel!
