Up to 15 people are squatting in a warehouse building in Seven Kings Way, Kingston.

Kingston police claimed this week they had closed down the squat but last night it was packed with squatters, and lights were on with music ringing from the building.

Officers found the squat while investigating a bike theft from Seven Kings Way at 5pm last Thursday, January 3.

A squatter, aged 26, who wished to be known only as Nick, said last night the group had moved into the building two or three weeks ago.

Nick said he was a British citizen raised in the United States. He returned to find work but said he had been unable to get a National Insurance number, after being out of the country for a long time. He said: “Instead of sleeping on the street I’m squatting buildings.”
