Reporter's newborn son misses due date deadline by two weeks
The son of the Surrey Comet’s chief reporter missed his December 21 due date, but was finally born two weeks later on the day the paper went to press.
Kirsten McGuire, a teacher, gave birth to Findlay, at shortly after 7.30am on Thursday morning, as the Comet team were preparing today’s newspaper.
Ross Logan, who lives in Surbiton, said: “Like his dad, he’s no respecter of deadlines.”
He said: “It’s been hectic. All three of us are knackered but we’re delighted. He is well overdue.
“We were thinking we would have a Christmas baby. I was fairly convinced he was going to be born on Christmas day and was quite relieved when he wasn’t.”
He also praised the midwives who delivered their 7 lbs 2 ounce son saying: "The hospital have been amazing. They were superb. The midwives have been brilliant so thanks to them.”
Surrey Comet assistant editor David Lindsell said: "Ross has been a brilliant addition to our team and we’re delighted for him and Kirsten that they now have their own new member of the family – even if he was a little late."
