It was a case of love-love for tennis enthusiasts Jean and Glyn Lloyd, as they celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary last week.
The couple celebrated 60 years together on April 12 and enjoyed a week of celebrations, culminating in a family dinner at the Corallo Restaurant in Kingston Road on Saturday.
The pair have lived in Albany Road, New Malden, for the past 58 years and first met during World War II.
Mr Lloyd was in the Royal Air Force and Mrs Lloyd the Women's Auxiliary Air Force.
Now the couple have a son and daughter, and four grandchildren.
Both are keen tennis players and former tennis champions of the Malden Wanderers Club.
Mr Lloyd also played cricket for the same club before qualifying as an umpire.
He later went on to officiate at Lords, The Oval and other grounds around the country.
The couple celebrated the special occasion with a holiday on Hayling Island and among the many messages of congratulation a telegram from Her Majesty The Queen, awaited them on their return.
Mr and Mrs Lloyd's family surprised the couple by inviting the Surrey Comet's photographer along to the meal on Saturday.
The couple's daughter, Margaret Chalke, said: "It was excellent, they were really surprised.
"They've always been a devoted couple, very caring of each other and family orientated."
Mr Lloyd said he had a wonderful week.
He said: "It was fantastic, I'm looking forward to the next 10 years."
