Sutton man pleads guilty to sex charges from 1970s

A man charged with sex offences dating back 35 years has pleaded guilty to 14 charges of indecent assault on children under 16.

Walter Parish, of Matlock Crescent in Sutton, appeared at Croydon Crown Court this morning to find out when he will be sentenced.

At Sutton Magistrates’ Court hearing in February, the defendant was originally charged with 16 offences which he pleaded not guilty to.

But now the 63-year-old has changed his plea to guilty, meaning sentencing can proceed without the need for a trial.

The remaining two charges are to lie on Mr Parish's file.

The offences took place over a period of 20 years at Mr Parish’s property.

He was asked to return to Croydon Crown Court for sentencing on September 24.
