Sutton choir searching for second alto for Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod

An amateur choir is urgently looking for a new member, after being accepted to compete in an international musical festival.

The Impromptu Choir, based in Sutton, is in desperate need of a second alto so they can compete at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, on July 11.

Choir recruitment secretary Sarah Lee said: “We’re looking for an experienced singer because they will have to learn three songs very quickly, and then work with us to get the songs up to the high standard that is required for a top-flight competition like this.

“We pride ourselves on being extremely supportive of new members, and anyone joining us now can be sure they will be given all the help and encouragement they need in order to integrate with the choir at this late stage of our preparations.”

The ladies choir, formed in 1992, reached the final in the BBC Radio 3 Choir of the Year 2008 competition.

They rehearse every Thursday from 7.30pm to 10pm at Sutton Baptist Church, Cheam Road.

Anyone who would like details about joining the choir should contact Sarah Lee on sarahjane_lee@hotmail.com
