Weather experts are continuing to predict snow later this week amid speculation of a white Christmas.

Met Office predictions are warning of snow hitting London and the South East on Thursday, with others looking slightly further ahead, to December 25.

A Met Office spokesman said another cold snap, following freezing temperatures and snow in recent weeks, was set to hit from Thursday and stretching into the weekend.

He said: "Rain on Thursday turning to snow for a time before clearing. Turning much colder and very windy with snow showers affecting some places later Thursday.

"Snow developing more widely on Friday and Saturday."

Meanwhile, the odds on a white Christmas are shortening, with Jonathan Powell, from Positive Weather Solutions, saying it was a "foregone conclusion".

He said: "All bets are off. It’s going to happen."
