Princes William and Harry have raised almost £1m to help injured troops at Ashtead's Headley Court.

The princes have collected £850,000 in 12 weeks which will be split between forces' charity Help for Heroes and the Soldiers Sailors Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA).

Even more money is expected to be donated at the Princes' City Salute tonight in a tribute to the armed forces.

The funding is expected to go towards improving facilities at Headley Court which the princes visited last month.

Defence Secretary Des Browne yesterday announced a £24m revamp for Headley Court, doubling the number of beds at the rehabilitation centre to 240.
