A Tolworth resident has demanded a council tax reduction after eggs were thrown at her house on Christmas Eve.

Josephine Stark, 43, who lives with her three sons in Red Lion Road, said the demand was a last resort, made after kids from the School Lane estate made her life hell.

She claims police have been unable to help, and wants the council to do more.

She said: "My house has been under attack for about three or four months but it has now reached a crescendo.

"No one has been able to help me so far so I think the council should either pay for me to get the house cleaned or give me a reduction in council tax."

Ms Stark said it is a small minority of people who live on the estate who cause the trouble, and other properties on the estate have also been egged.

She said: "The troublemakers do not deserve to live here if they do not respect the area.

"I want the council to bring the children to book. If the police can't do it, the estate managers should.

"The council should also start looking after the estate - the broken windows are never fixed."

A council spokesman said: "Tolworth estate managers have not received a complaint from Ms Stark regarding antisocial behaviour and were not aware that she has experienced a problem in this location.

"Wherever such incidents are reported, the council works closely with the relevant police Safer Neighbourhood Teams to combat any form of antisocial behaviour."

Councillor Paul Johnston said: "It sounds like it is a matter for the police and the council doesn't run the police, although the council tax helps to pay for them.

"The demand is a way of bringing the matter to public attention."

A police spokeswoman confirmed it had received two reports about the incident and was investigating.
