Battersea schoolchildren living in overcrowded conditions made a moving video plea to the council’s head of housing.
St Mary’s Primary’s Christmas appeal features children singing carols and saying personal pleas to Wandsworth director Roy Evans.
One child in the video said: “My best Christmas present ever would be a nice warm and cosy bedroom.”
Another said: “I would like somewhere to do my homework. Nothing special, just a place to work.”
The video followed a survey of St Mary’s pupils living in the borough carried out by community lobby group South London Citizens (SLC).
Of the 62 respondents, 81 per cent said their house matched the council’s definition of overcrowded.
The video, entitled VTS, received almost 300 hits after it was posted on November 28. To view it visit youtube.com/watch?v=VaXJlswobhg.
