Sophie Mackrell has staked claim to being Britney Spears’ biggest fan, after appearing in a BBC documentary about the star.
Surbiton resident Miss Mackrell, 28, starred in Britney Spears Saved My Life on Sunday, a documentary following some of Britney’s most dedicated fans on a journey to Britain’s biggest dance tribute to the pop star.
She was chosen because of her dedication, and collection of eBay buys which range from perfumes to lunch boxes.
The nursery teacher loves Britney so much that she has worked her dances into routines she teaches at a stage school.
Explaining her obsession, she said: “I just love her, I think she’s amazing. No one even comes close to her.”
She keeps all of her empty Britney perfumes because she cannot bear to throw them away and even plans to dance to her tracks when she gets married but her boyfriend, despite not being a fan, is unphased by it.
Miss Mackrell said: “He copes with it. I always say to him he’s lucky because he gets to look at Britney all the time and she’s hot.
“I’m not a nutter, I just love what she does. I’m definitely not some freak that knows her every movement.”
Defending Britney after her troubled life became the centre of a media frenzy last year, she said: “At the end of the day she’s just a normal girl. We all have our problems but we haven’t got paparazzi following us around.”
If you missed the documentary, you can catch it on BBC iPlayer.
