A teenager has been stabbed in Chessington.

The boy was escorted by an air ambulance doctor to hospital after the stabbing in Leatherhead Road at 4.47pm.

Police are blocking off part of the road because of the incident believed near Lidl.

Police cars have also cordoned off a bus stop on the A243 road heading towards Hook from Chessington World of Adventures.

A London Ambulance spokesman said they were still at the scene.

He said: “We were called at 4.47pm to an incident in Leatherhead Road.

"We sent two ambulances and an air ambulance doctor by car.

"We treated one teenage male for stab wounds and he has been taken to hospital as a priority, escorted by the air ambulance doctor.

"We are still at the scene.”

Earlier an eye-witness said the police had riot vans at the scene.

He said: "I saw two guys on the floor near Lidl but there was no emergency services by them.

"One man was lying on his side being attended to by a girlfriend or a friend.

"Another was holding a bandage to his head.

"I guessed the guy on the floor was quite badly hurt. He didn't seem alert like the other guy.

"The emergency services were by the Barwell estate. I don't know if they were looking for someone. They turned around and they went to the guy on the floor.

"Even now there's still police cars and undercover cops going down there."
