A Surbiton couple is selling a pair of quirky homeware items inspired by area landmarks – a Surbiton Station letter-holder and a Tolworth Tower bookend.

Mechanical engineer Nick John and his wife former fashion designer Molly Wilson have been selling the letter-holder for a year, but the bookend is new for this Christmas.

Nick said: “We’re just inspired by the architecture. We live in Surbiton and we love it here. There’s easy access to London, but also to escape to the countryside. There’s a nice community feel, as well as the shops and pubs.”

The couple have lived in Surbiton for six years, and their love for the area inspired them to start creating the products under the name Wilhon Designs.

Nick said: “The main thing is the creative fun. It’s something we can do on the side of our day jobs. It’s nice to think that there’s something we’ve created that people might like to have in their homes.

“There are a few more things in the pipeline, but we’ve not decided what’s next.”

Wilhon Designs sells in Farrago in Surbiton, View Gallery in Thames Ditton and on etsy.com/uk/shop/WilhonDesign.

The products will be available online from Sunday, December 3.
