Commuters are furious as ticket machines fail on the South Western Railway network.
A spokesperson for SWR said: "Unfortunately, the issue is network wide this morning."
The recently unveiled company warned in a tweet: "Some ticket machines are not accepting cards this morning.
"Please visit a ticket office or speak to your on board guard."
The scene at Waterloo has been described as "chaotic".
Waterloo station running on only 2/5ths of its ticket machines... absolutely chaotic @LondonWaterloo

Passengers have responded with frustration, especially as there seems to be very few workers at ticket offices.
*no* machines are accepting cards at Earlsfield, and the ticket office is deserted. Just FYI.

I have the same problem but the guards machine isn't working either.

Some!? Try all! With No card machines working and your ticket office isn't even open!

Perhaps you could list what IS working on your network? A short tweet I suspect....

This happened a few weeks ago as well. Every problem you're having is a repeat problem which only goes to prove how incompetent you are

Can't run train on time but can always check tickets aggressively. Your capitalist priorities are not Boris's priorities 😡

Absolute disgrace- as a knock on effect I just experienced the worst customer service imaginable at Surbiton!
