Kingston Mosque is reaching out to the community and encouraging people to visit its open weekend.

This Saturday and Sunday (August 5 to 6), there will be an exhibition, free food, some activities for children and the opportunity for a guided tour of the mosque.

The exhibition is aimed to teach visitors a little about Islamic teachings and history, and there will be historical objects on display.

Faisal Hanjra, trustee at Kingston Mosque said: “This is a chance for the mosque to reach out to its non-Muslim neighbours, friends and the wider Kingston community. We hope this will be an opportunity to counter the unfortunate stereotypes that are associated with Islam and to introduce people to the teachings and history of Islam, over free food!

“It will be great to come together as Kingstonians, celebrating our diversity and exploring our differences.”
