A new Co-op convenience store will be opened in Surbiton towards the end of June.

The 2,600 sq ft, £610,000 new build in Ellerton Road will have an in-store bakery, as well as ‘locally sourced products and a focus on fresh, healthy foods, meal ideas and essentials’.

Craig Smith, regional acquisitions manager for the Co-op, said: “We’re looking forward to opening a new store in Surbiton. We’re delighted to have the opportunity to provide shoppers with our wide range of award-winning food, in a store designed to be easy to use for everyone.”

The store will bring a funding boost for community groups through the Co-op’s membership scheme.

Members receive a five per cent reward on purchases of own-brand products and a further one per cent goes to local causes.

Recently, Kingston Race and Equalities Council, Mind in Kingston and Momentum shared a payout of £4,500.
