Councillors will tonight vote on whether to install a £120,000 crossing on Tolworth’s Greenway, two years after the plans were first proposed.

The building of a pelican or zebra crossing, most likely near Marks and Spencer, was recommended by the south of the borough neighbourhood committee in September and will be voted on by the resident’s committee at the Guildhall tonight.

Residents were first asked about the plans in a consultation in autumn 2014 and highlighted the need to build a public crossing.

Tolworth councillor Richard Hudson told this website the plans would cost about £120,000 two months ago.

If passed, the plans will be subject to final approval by Transport for London.

If granted, the council will install the crossing within the financial year.
