A flood alert has been issued for the River Mole following localised thunderstorms overnight.

Surrey Comet:

The Environment Agency has warned the river and its tributaries may flood from Kinnersley Manor in Reigate to south Hersham, including in Leatherhead (pictured above), Cobham and Stoke D’Abernon (pictured below).

Forecasters at the Met Office have predicted further torrential downpours across the south east today with the heaviest thunderstorms likely to take place this morning. The outlook for the next five days is relatively dry.

The alert will remain in place until today’s weather systems have passed, the Environment Agency advised.
