Hundreds flocked to soak up the sun at the Surbiton Village Fete as the town’s food festival hit its midway stage.

The fete, which was spread across both sunny Saturday and Sunday, saw foodies and music lovers alike gather in St Andrew's Square, Maple Road, to enjoy food demonstrations, competitions, live music and a dry hopped beer festival.

Kingston and Surbiton MP James Berry attended the first day of the fete, the fourth of its kind, on Saturday, and tweeted: "Well done to @LordScroley [Robin Hutchinson] on the excellent Surbiton Food Festival Surbiton Village Fete this weekend - we had a great time on Saturday."

The fete took place in the middle weekend of the Surbiton Food Festival fortnight, which celebrates and showcases local businesses while bringing the community together in an array of quirky and fiercely unique events.

Lucy Furlong, writer and Surbiton resident, wrote a blog to describe the end of the fete.

She said: "We ambled our way through happy crowds of people, still enjoying the food, music, cider and late afternoon sunshine, towards the exit, only to be stopped by a cheerful lady holding a plate of scones.

"We had once again been caught happily in the whirly web of Seething."

Events and demonstrations are running throughout the week. This weekend sees the grand finale of the festival with a community sports day, picnic and dog show.
