Two people have been arrested after a stabbing in Tolworth this afternoon, just two days after a man was arrested following a separate knifing nearby.

Surrey Comet:

A Kingston police spokesman confirmed the two arrests just before 3.30pm.

He added: "At 2pm a lone officer, again on foot patrol, came across a fight in School Lane.

"Bravely he got in-between the two groups and managed to break up the incident.

"He then found a male suffering with stab wounds and rendered first aid on his own."

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman confirmed officers were called to School Lane shortly after 2pm today.

She said: “There is one person with a stab wound, not believed to be life-changing or -threatening.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We sent a number of resources including an incident officer, ambulance crews and an advanced paramedic.

"We took one patient as a priority to a major trauma centre."

A cordon was in place, and the Met spokeswoman found no record of an arrest having been made.

On Saturday a man was arrested after police officers, alerted by a passer-by, found a man with facial injuries and a stab wound near shops in Red Lion Road.

Kingston and Surbiton MP James Berry said: "I drove past the first stabbing victim on my was to the Hook Beer Festival on Saturday as the police were arriving and it wasn’t a pleasant sight.

"I understand that both he and the Monday’s stabbing victim did not suffer serious wounds and that suspects have been arrested thanks to quick work by Kingston Police in both cases.

"There is no place for people who carry knives in our borough. As these cases show, you’re likely to get caught if you commit an offence with a knife and, thanks to tough laws passed in Parliament, to go to prison."
