A motorcyclist is in stable condition in hospital after a rush-hour crash closed King Charles Road in Surbiton.

The road, between Smith Street and Berrylands Road, was cordoned off for some hours yestereday evening, according to residents.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said officers were called to King Charles Road at 5.10pm yesterday to a crash between a car and a motorbike.
The driver of the car was unhurt, was not arrested, and is helping officers with their enquiries, he said.
Two people were riding the motorbike. One escaped injury while the second was taken to hospital in serious condition, but has since stablised.

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 5.08pm on March 3 to reports of a road traffic collision at King Charles Road.
“We sent multiple resources and our crew were on scene within five minutes.”
