Officers got a helping hand, or should that be foot, from a casual have-a-go hero when they were chasing down a suspected drug dealer at the weekend.

CCTV footage shows a man being pursued by three Kingston town centre policemen while late night shoppers and drinkers look on.

But as the suspect is looking back at his chasers he runs past an arm-in-arm couple and is stopped in his tracks by the man who casually sticks his foot out.

The couple then keep on walking while the collapsed alleged drug dealer is tackled in a doorway and arrested.

MPS Grove, Kingston’s town centre team, tweeted the CCTV of the pursuit with the caption: “One drug dealer arrested after a little bit of help from a member of the public #hero.”

A 17-year-old was arrested and bailed on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply.
