A famous lookalike is walking the streets of Surbiton in the form of cartoon character Tintin’s dog Snowy.

Wire hair fox terrier Jasper was awarded the lookalike prize at Somerset House last week after his owner Roger Bines, pictured right with Jasper, of Arlington Road, Surbiton, noticed a startling similarity between Jasper and the beloved cartoon canine.

He said: “I retired from full-time employment last January after leading a hectic life working on Formula 1 and needed a project to keep me busy.

“Jasper has certainly done his best to fulfil my wishes.

“He loves people, especially children, and can be very mischievous when my back is turned.

“My wife and I thought that the competition was a great idea but did not think for one minute that Jasper had a chance of winning.”

The competition was run alongside Somerset House’s Herge’s Masterpiece Spotlight Tours, an exhibition exploring the author’s art.
